Twenty-Something

Lunch at Zucca with my mum, Tracey Emin's Love Is What You Want with my girlies, dinner at Olives and Figs with ten of the most fabulous people I know before a gleefully embarrassing drinking session in the Pride of Spitalfields - turning twenty-five was fun! It also helped that I was spoilt rotten with a flip cam, the Facehunter book, Hotel Chocolat Summer Deserts, fancy vodka, Wong Kar-Wai's In The Mood For Love and money towards a DSLR camera. Plus, I am now the proud owner of Lady Gaga's Born This Way - so many dancing days lay ahead. Thank you everyone!

Tze Goh

Photo: Naag.com

Using malleable 3D foam to allow his designs to be controlled and precise, Singapore-born Central Saint Martins graduate Tze Goh has done some really cool things with the T-shirt. But while we might love anyone who reworks our wardrobe favorite, there’s another reason we’re head over heels with this new designer — and, unlike his work, it’s pretty simple. His latest collection, slick architectural shapes that take on the geometry of Japanese design, makes us look seriously hot.

We're not alone in predicting big things for this sculptural genius. His graduate collection, a white heat of foam moulded T-shirt abstractions, was so dreamy that the pieces resembled clouds – and, thanks to the seal of approval from some of the industry’s most critical fashion editors, the young designer became Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s One to Watch.

One year on, this talented sculptor has just unleashed his best collection yet. All folds and twisting lapels, Goh keeps things tidy with barely there seams - even fastenings are neatly tucked away.  The result is awesome, fuss-free pieces we can move in; no more unnecessary dangly bits to get stuck in bike wheels or accidentally dip into a pub toilet here, thank you very much.

Stocked exclusively in London’s latest concept store, LN-CC, word of Goh’s designs is quickly spreading through Dalston – but with an online shop offering worldwide shipping, we can’t imagine it will be long until this guy’s name is on everyone’s lips.

House of Good Stuff

Today was the turn of House of Fraser to show off their soon-to-be-in-store collections in the seemingly never ending run of AW11 press days. With a reference to almost every decade in the last 60 years, plus a very strong minimal collection, the department store has certainly included something for everyone this coming season. The photos above show two looks from House of Fraser's Bohemian Opulance range which includes pieces by Label Lab and Bastyan, a beautiful Biba silk underwear set, Ponyskin Biba shoulder bags and a tan See by Chloe satchel - all of which have just been added to the worryingly long 'Winter must haves' list.

Wishes

 Photos: Style.com, Celine, Alexander Wang

Next Thursday is my birthday - and while I'm not thrilled to find myself another year older, I am taking comfort in childish wishes for expensive gifts. So, if you're interested, I'd like a Stella McCartney suit, Celine clutch and Alexander Wang booties please.

Going Gaga

It's been a while since my last white platform shoe ramble - but there has been a development in the search; a development so big that I may be able to call it off completely. Saviour has come in the form of Lady Gaga, or rather her stylist Nicola Formichetti, who found the little minx a very fetching pair of creeper / brouge hybrids to writhe around in for the making of her Judas video. You've got to love Nicola, not only does he source incredible outfits for the wackiest lady of all, he's also kind enough to list the clothing credits on his blog. Turns out the platforms I clocked are customised Underground Shoes and cost around eighty quid. Well, if they're good enough for Gaga...

Boogie Nights

From skin-tight metallic trousers to towering studded platforms, Topshop have got plenty a treat in store for AW11 and it’s set to make you boogie. Yesterday the über brand showcased four collections along with shoes, make-up and their Unique line which made its first appearance at London Fashion Week back in February. The top image shows three looks from the Unique range, a more subtle take on AW11’s 70s trend. Apparently a modern take on the rebellious dressing of the 60s, this white pleated crepe skirt with cut out leather bodice and teddy boy coat are from the Pyschobilly collection and will no doubt be some of the seasons most coveted high street pieces. After having a brief moment of uncertainty (I think it was the heat and the four flights of stairs that had to be climbed to reach this fashion haven), I am now completely in love with these metallic blue jeans and reckon they could be paired with the gorgeous platforms below – this is the Glamrock after all. Shoes came in a variety of shapes and textures – it looks like loafers, booties, glitter, velvet and suede are set to adorn our feet this winter. Bring it on.

Chloé, What You Gonna Do?

After ten years of working for the label and three of being at its helm, Hannah MacGibbon is leaving Chloé behind and moving on to fashion pastures new. Set to be replaced by former Pringle of Scotland designer Clare Waight Keller, it’s yet to be announced what Hannah’s next project will be. For now though, here’s a selection of her Chloé ‘best bits’.

Dream

Photos: Sarah Vo

22-year-old snapper Sarah Vo is already causing a quiet fashion storm with her dream-like images. I for one am a big fan of her fairytale pictures - and the flowing dresses she crafts to feature in them. Inspired by her grandfather in Vietnam, Vo uses 35mm film and Polaroid cameras to make dreamy fashion photographs out of family memories from the past.

Fits Me

I had peek at what Urban Outfitters have coming in store for AW11 today.  While on a break from stuffing my face with carrot cake (the really good kind with lashings of buttercream), I had a nosy round the press area and am now feeling quite excited about what affordable offerings will be in store in a few months. I can’t wait to get my hands on this white hooded Something Else dress and new Lomography Diana camera. The shoes are by Underground Shoes, I’m hoping by the time Autumn comes they will have started making them in white – soles ‘n’ all.

The Look Line Up: Met Gala 2011

Photos: Style.com

Last night's Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala saw the unveiling of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, an exhibition devoted to the British designer.  Above are my favourite looks from the night: Hilary Rhoda wearing Alexander McQueen, Diane Kruger sparkling in Jason Wu, Mary-Kate Olsen going against the grain in vintage Givenchy, Ashley Olsen in vintage Dior Couture, Isabel Lucas wearing Louis Vuitton and Crystal Renn looking ever so dramatic in Zac Posen.
